President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah, is eyeing Ghana getting at least two or three boxers to qualify to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris later this year.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports ahead of Ghana’s Amateur Boxing Team (the Black Bombers) impending trip to Bangkok, Thailand to compete in qualifiers for the Paris Games.
“We try to keep money related issues out of athletes domain. Athletes are supposed to just focus on their training and prepare for the Games. Monies and other administrative issues will be taken care of by the administrators. Money is not an issue.”
“They are in training, they are in camp now and I hope that they will be able to focus on their training, get to Bangkok, put up a good show and Ghana should be able to get maybe about two or three boxers qualify”.
Ghana is set to leave for Thailand on May 20.
