Several golfers pick awards in MTN invitational tourney

The Achimota Golf Course was turned into a frenzy atmosphere of golfing activities last Saturday, September 21, 2024, during the 2024 edition of the MTN Invitational Tournament.

The one-day event featured golfers from all the courses in Ghana for a momentous festival of golfing accomplishments.

The inaugural competition of the 2024 edition of the prestigious MTN Invitational Golf Tournament was successfully held at the Achimota Golf Club last Saturday, September 21. Players from various clubs across the country put on fantastic performances, but the winners’ good fortune and perseverance paid off. Frederick Semenu Duvour and Vastie Amoafo-Yeboah were the big winners.

In the Men’s Group A, Solomon Allotey finished third with 10 handicaps and 37 points, while Justin B. C. Butah finished second with 10 handicaps and 38 points. Fred Semenu Duvour won with a handicap of 12 and 40 points. With 44 points and 14 handicaps, Vastie Ampofo-Yeboah was victorious in Ladies Group A, followed by Catherine Fabbi in second place. In the Men’s Group B, Simron Oberoi won first place with 19 handicaps and 43 points, followed by Walid Zoobi and Kevin Amedoh in second and third place with 41 and 38 points, respectively.

In the Ladies Group B, Sheryl Afia Afari emerged victorious with 45 points and 28 handicaps, followed by Marlene Tonyigah in second place.

In the seniors division, Hajia Zenabu Sulemana and Chris Apau-Opong shared first place. Simran Oberoi won the longest drive (Hole 15) for the men’s auxiliary prizes, while Floria Hurtubise took first place for the ladies. Philip Paekes won Closest To The Pin (Hole 18), and Letitia Amponsah Mensah won the ladies’ division.
