The 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for his innovative and effective leadership of the Ghana Police Service. According to Amoako, the IGP and the current police management board have played a crucial role in maintaining the country’s democratic integrity.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the police headquarters on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, where the democracy cup was presented to the IGP, Amoako emphasized the importance of the Ghana Police Service in the nation’s democratic success. “We believe that a major part of the success of our democracy depends on the Ghana Police Service. We are here to present this democracy cup to you, IGP, as a symbolic gesture so that, as the holders of the peace of this country, we can implore you to continue holding our peace together as you have always done with your administration since you took over. We are grateful for your leadership.”
In response, IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare expressed his gratitude for the recognition from Parliament and assured the delegation of his and his team’s commitment to protecting and safeguarding the country’s democracy. “We are inspired by the recognition of our work by the legislative chamber and will continue to discharge our responsibilities in order to protect and safeguard the country’s democracy.”
