Alan Kyerematen calls for end to NPP/NDC dominance in Ghana

Alan Kyerematen, an independent presidential candidate and former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, has called for a decisive end to the political dominance of the NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking at a media engagement on Tuesday, Kyerematen criticised the two-party system, arguing that it has hampered Ghana’s progress and innovation.

Kyerematen highlighted the critical issues facing Ghanaians, including high youth unemployment, inadequate healthcare, and a distressed economy, which he attributes to the failures of the two major parties. “The NPP and NDC have had their chance to lead Ghana. It’s time for a new political direction that prioritises the needs of the people,” Kyerematen declared.

Emphasising the need for political diversity, Kyerematen argued that Ghana’s political system should accommodate smaller parties and independent candidates to better reflect the nation’s diversity and address its varied needs. “Our political landscape must evolve to include a broader range of voices and perspectives,” he stated.

Kyerematen’s comments come as public frustration with the traditional political parties grows, with many Ghanaians seeking alternative leadership. He encouraged voters to consider the Movement for Change as a credible alternative, promising integrity, accountability, and innovative solutions to Ghana’s challenges.

With the upcoming December elections on the horizon, Kyerematen’s call for ending NPP/NDC dominance could reshape the political landscape, offering a new path for Ghana’s future.
