Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have signed Sudanese duo AbdoelKarem AbdoelRahman Yoouef Yagoub and Esmat Abdulhamid Mohamed Al Hasan.
Forward Yagoub and left full back Al Hasan join the Porcupine Warriors from Sudanese sides Hay Alwady and Al Hilal Omdurman respectively on one year deals with an option to extend by a year.
The signings come ahead of Kotoko’s scheduled game against bitter rival Accra Hearts of Oak SC in the Democracy Cup on July 17 as part of its preparation for the 2024-2025 season.
Signing the pair comes in the wake of a mass exodus of players from the club including high profile names like Black Stars duo Danlad Ibrahim and Richmond Lamptey.
Lamptey was part of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team that competed at the 2023 AFCON while Danlad was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Lamptey has since signed a two year with Rwandan side Armee Police Rwanda and will reportedly earn $10,000 as monthly salary. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Both were part of 22 players let go by the club after Kotoko finished in a disappointing sixth place in the 18 team Ghana Premier League 2023-2024 season standings. Lamptey recently penned a heartfelt message after his departure.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has been a part of our journey over the past three seasons. A special thank you to our life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, for your unwavering support and guidance. pic.twitter.com/YPOG8S5GaJ
