The Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA), has called for the immediate withdrawal of the 5% Excise Tax on plastic manufacturing companies. This is to save the companies from collapse.
In a statement, the association stressed that the business community is already grappling with currency instability, increasing utility tariffs, and other numerous taxes; hence, the government can not be insensitive to their plight by imposing such a tax.
It said that the business community can no longer accept any additional layer of cost to doing business in the country, thereby appealing to the government to, as a matter of urgency, stop the implementation of the 5% excise tax.
