Speaking at the launch of NDC’s 2024 Manifesto in Winneba on Saturday, August 24, 2024, John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), vowed to establish international-standard stadia in all regions of Ghana. This ambitious initiative, as stated by Mr. Mahama, forms a key part of the NDC’s broader plan to stimulate growth in the nation’s sports sector.
Mr Mahama emphasised the importance of this project, stating that it aligns with the NDC’s longstanding policy of developing world-class sports infrastructure.
“We will pursue our long-standing policy of establishing international-standard stadia in all regions,” Mahama declared. He highlighted that such infrastructure is essential for nurturing talent and promoting sports at both the regional and national levels.
In addition to the international-standard stadia, John Mahama outlined plans to build more multi-purpose sports facilities across the country. These facilities are intended to support a wide range of sporting events, including regional competitions and inter-school tournaments. “We aim to build more multi-purpose sports facilities to promote regional sporting events and inter-school competitions as part of our talent development policy,” Mahama explained.
As the 2024 elections approach, Mahama’s bold promise to transform the sports landscape of Ghana will be keenly looked at by voters, who will decide on 7th December on what suits their interest.
