Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has explained his choice of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his Running mate for the December 7, Presidential election.
According to him, apart from sustaining the North-South, Muslim-Christian representation in government, he also considered the need to get someone neck-deep in party and grassroot politics to make up for his limitations as an academic and technocrat.
At an event to formally introduce the Vice-Presidential aspirant to the rank and file of the NPP in Kumasi, Dr. Bawumia described the NPP’s Presidential ticket as a representation of the youth, future aspirations and forward thinking for the development of Ghana.
Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence in his running-mate to complement his efforts in securing victory saying: ” I have high respect for him, he is a problem-solver, a generational thinker and I have absolute confidence in him.”
Dr. Bawumia hinted of plans to launch the Party’s 2024 Election Manifesto next month, which would be the blueprint for the policies and aspirations of the Party.
