Ghana sprinter Benjamin Azamati says he is very excited to return to compete in the Olympic Games after featuring in the last Games held in Tokyo in 2021 but was heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He expressed this in an interview with Supersport as the Ghanaian contingent continues to put finishing touches to its preparations for the 2024 Olympics that run from July 26 to August 11 in Paris.
Azamati was part of the Ghana Men’s 4×100 Relay Team that finished seventh in the 2020 Olympics Final to miss out on winning a medal.
Returning with another member of the 2020 team, Joseph Paul Amoah, to this year’s Games, Azamati is part of a nine member contingent representing Ghana in Paris.
“I’m just a little bit excited to be able to run the Olympics again. Having run in Tokyo in the last Olympics, I’m more excited about this one, more happy to be a part of it and looking back at the season and looking how things have went, finally being able to make it, I’m more excited going into this one.”
Azamati was part of the Ghana Team that won silver at the 2023 African Games in March.
