President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is inaugurating a 320-unit housing project for the Ghana Police Service today, Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra.

The project, which began in 2018, comprises seven blocks of two-bedroom apartments and thirteen blocks of three-bedroom apartments, with each block containing sixteen units.

In addition to the residential units, the project features a multipurpose sports facility, a kindergarten school, and other auxiliary residential facilities.

According to a press release dated Friday, July 19, 2024, and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Elvis Adjei-Baah, the project’s completion and utilization will augment the government’s other housing programs aimed at increasing the residential stock for public service workers.

The commissioning ceremony will be attended by high-ranking government officials, members of the Ghana Police Service, and other stakeholders in the housing sector.

The statement highlighted the project’s significance, noting that it represents a substantial effort by the government to enhance the living conditions of public service workers and address the housing deficit in the country.

The Ministry emphasized that this initiative is a critical step towards reducing accommodation challenges in Ghana’s urban areas, which will ultimately bridge the national housing deficit of 1.8 million units.

The new housing units will provide much-needed accommodation for police personnel, enhancing their welfare and enabling them to perform their duties more effectively.

The event is expected to be a milestone, showcasing the government’s commitment to addressing the housing needs of its citizens.
