The Ghana Police Service has inaugurated an ultra-modern one-stop shop for Police Officers. The shop which will see the sale of police apparels and other accoutrements is to enable officers to purchase their items without stress.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia who inaugurated the shop at a short ceremony in Accra, lauded the Police Service for such an initiative to help personnel of the Service.

Dr. Bawumia who is the Chairman of the Police Council said the shop will not replace the government’s obligations to the Service but will complement it.

Dr. Bawumia said the government has over the years demonstrated support to the security services especially the police to enable them to discharge their duties. This is evident with the supply of vehicles, motorbikes and other logistics to enhance police visibility, taking policing closer to the public. He applauded the police service for protecting lives and properties.

Dr Bawumia also used the occasion to urge the Police Service to discharge its duties diligently as the nation gears up for the elections.

Touching on the Police shop, the Vice President lauded the Police for establishing such an edifice to create a one-stop shop for all police uniforms and accoutrements.

Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey said the Police Service has the responsibility to ensure peace in the country and this cannot be compromised. He cautioned the public against making utterances that threaten the peace of the country, stressing that False Publication Act will deal with such persons.

The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare said the police service stands in readiness to maintain law and order before, during and after the elections. He entreated Ghanaians to cooperate with the service to ensure a peaceful election.

The Police Shop was sponsored by the Omanhene of the Kwahu Tradition Area among other sponsors. They were honored for their support.
