Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has paid tribute to the former member of Parliament (MP) for the Ejisu Constituency in the Ashanti Region who doubled as the Deputy Finance Minister, Dr John Kumah, who died on 7th March 2024, at the age of 45.
The Vice President and NPP presidential candidate, in his tribute, described the late Member of Parliament of Ejisu as a friend and strong supporter.
He indicated that Dr John’ Kumah’s contributions to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were invaluable, adding that “he was not only a driving force but also a fervent advocate for advancing NPP agenda”.
Dr Bawumia said in a message of condolence at the burial service of the late MP, which was held at the Roman Catholic School Park on Saturday, May 18.
Prior to the Burial Service, the remains of the late MP were airlifted to Kumasi from Accra and handed over to the family, according to tradition.
Dr. Bawumia said the death of John Kuma was sudden and dealt a personal blow.
He recounted that before his decision to become President, Dr. John Kumah was among the few party leaders and legislators to have publicly urged him to run and pledged his unending support.
John Kumah died on 7th of March at the Suhum Government Hospital. His remains were interred at the Aduaprokye Royal Cemetery, near Ejisu.
