Black Queens midfielder, Azumah Bugre, has expressed sadness over Ghana’s inability to qualify to the 2024 Olympic Games but added the team is keeping its head high.
She said this in an interview ahead of Ghana’s National Women’s National Team’s friendly game against Japan on Saturday, July 13 at 6:20AM.
Japan are ranked seventh in the Women’s world rankings and are preparing to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games that runs from July 26 to August 11 in Paris, France.
Ghana won’t compete in the Olympics after losing out on a qualification spot to Zambia via 4-3 aggregate loss and Bugre reflected on the loss.
“Talk about the Zambia game, we’ve been sad for a very long time. It was one of our motives to qualify for the Olympics. We couldn’t get that through but nevertheless we are still looking forward to the AFCON and we are keeping our heads up.”
Despite the loss to Zambia, Ghana beat Namibia via a 3-2 aggregate win to qualify to the 2025 AFCON after missing out on the last AFCON.
