EC disqualifies PNC’s Bernard Mornah, Janet Nabla, 9 others from 2024 Presidential race

Ghana’s electoral management body, the Electoral Commission (EC) has disqualified the People’s National Convention (PNC) presidential aspirant, Mr. Bernard Mornah and Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP), from contesting in the December 7, 2024, presidential elections.

Other presidential aspirants disqualified by the EC include Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr Samuel Sampong Ankrah, and Nii Amu Darko.

The rest are Samuel Apea-Danquah, Desmond Abrefah, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw (Progressive People’s Party).

This announcement was made public in a communiqué issued by the EC on Friday, September 20, 2024.

“After the filing of nominations, which took place from September 9 to September 13, 2024, the EC conducted a detailed examination of the submitted nomination forms to ensure compliance with the legal requirements,” a portion of the communiqué read.

The EC has also confirmed that 13 of the 24 candidates who filed their nomination forms to contest the 2024 presidential elections have completed the nomination process and are qualified to contest in the 2024 Presidential Election.

The successful aspirants are as follows;

6.            George Twum-Barima-Adu        – Independent Candidate

7.            Nana Kwame Bediako   –  Independent Candidate

8.            Akua Donkor      – Ghana Freedom Party

9.            Hassan Abdulai Ayariga – All People’s Congress

10.          Kofi Akpaloo     –  Liberal Party of Ghana

11.          Mohammed Frimpong  – National Democratic Party

12.          Nana Akosua Frimpomaa             – Convention People’s Party

13.          Kofi Koranteng  – Independent Candidate
