Ghana’s Parliament adjourned Sine Dine on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, adjourned the house indefinitely after the minority caucus, in a voice vote, won against the approval of a 250 million dollar loan facility for the Ghana Energy Sector Recovery Programme.
But the Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, said the caucus disagrees with the unilateral decision by the Speaker to adjourn the house.
He disclosed that the group will marshal its numbers to recall the house in accordance with law.
The house, at its third meeting of the fourth session, approved some key bills into law. Among those bills included the Affirmative Action, Gender Equity Bill 2024, the Ghana Shippers Authority Bill 2024, and the National Service Authority Bill 2024, among others.
The meeting also had the Minister for Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, appear before the house to present the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review.
